Who are Gordon Press / Revisionist Press?
Over the past 30 years the Gordon Press (and its Revisionist Press imprint) developed an aura of mystique. Their outlandish prices ($250 for the slimmer volumes), and the difficulty of actually getting books from them even if one did pay their prices, led some to believe that their esoteric and sometimes controversial list was not intended for purchase at all, but was merely a device to gather the names of political subversives on behalf of the CIA!

Suffice to say there was no truth in this rumor, which remains as a tribute to what the mixture of a little knowledge and a lot of paranoia can do. “I wish it had been true about the CIA,” says editor Herb Roseman today. “We might have made some money!”

In reality, the Gordon Press of Brooklyn, New York was a small family business hamstrung by the eccentric policies of its owner. When it finally closed in 2001, Run For Cover! was delighted to take over its remaining inventory, full as it is of interesting, provocative and indeed eccentric titles, few of which were printed in quantities greater than 200, and many of which are available nowhere else.

So now, for a limited time, is your chance to own a piece of the mystique at a fraction of the original prices — we won’t tell the CIA if you don’t!

Who are Run For Cover! ?
Those of you who, from time to time, fill a few idle minutes by checking our Run For Cover! Best auctions know that we have been selling a selection of off-beat books on many subjects, largely reprints bought from a publisher called the Gordon Press, who closed down a couple of years ago.

We have for a while been planning to begin publishing ourselves, and have recently started asking our customers if there are scarce and unavailable books that they would like to see us reprint. We have had many excellent suggestions which we will be working to bring into print in the coming months — and welcome any new ideas you may have. Francis Neilson’s “The Churchill Legend” (see our separate listing) is our first reprint under our publishing name, 29 Books.

In case you were wondering, Run For Cover! (and 29 Books, for that matter) is very much a mom-and-pop operation, with a little help from our part-time packers and shippers. We — that’s Paul Mann and Joanna Wissinger — are a small enough operation that when someone buys a book from us we follow the progress of their order individually, and if they email us or call us on the phone, we are able to give them personal attention. We aren’t perfect — oh no! Being human, sometimes we do forget a buyer’s name. But the aim is to provide the sort of attentive, interested service that Amazon and Barnes & Noble simply cannot.

So, this is the first movie I've made in my life. I apologize for the quality and utter lack of editing skill, but I hope you all enjoy nonetheless. :-) PS- Yes, I know I didn't upload this 'till the 24th even though I say it's the 19th in the beginning. It took awhile to film/put together.

24/12 - PARTE UNO
Eight o'clock in the morning. The day before Christmas. The supermarket is ready of any kind of goods. The fish counter is well prepared. Half past eight am, the doors open. A crowd of people starts a crazy run to buy the fish before the others. The run is long and nobody wants to loose his position. Screams, numbers and fishes fill up the atmospheare. Starting from this grotesque situation the documentary speaks with the people inside the supermarket trying to capture visions about the world outside. Scare, concern and sense of impotence paint a humanity that strongly overcomes the wall of the commercial center.
