And it was all over America, but particularly in some states like California. So my first thing that would have to happen is I have to be assured that that money would be put in the right place. And to tell you the truth, I am not confident that the Congress of the United States would do that. Because, does anybody here have confidence in Congress? Agosto 19,2008 a las 5:55 p.m. Fiscalía federal Y Un Gran Jurado De "Puertorriqueños" , radicaron otros 5 cargos MAS contra Aníbal Acevedo Vilá que incluyen Fraude electrónico y Conspiración para lavar dinero. El gobernador de Puerto Rico, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá, una de sus asesoras Luisa Inclán Bird y quien fue el director de finanzas de la campaña para la gobernación de Acevedo Vilá en el 2004, Miguel Nazario Franco, fueron acusados hoy de cinco cargos por un Gran Jurado federal de puertorriqueños. En el pliego acusatorio de cinco cargos se alegan dos patrones de conducta delictiva. Los acusados privaron al pueblo de Puerto Rico de los servicios honestos de Aníbal Acevedo Vilá como gobernador. Específicamente se alega que durante su campaña para gobernador y continuando luego de su elección, Acevedo Vilá y otros allegados de su campaña solicitaron y recibieron aproximadamente $250,000 de un hombre de negocios identificado en el pliego acusatorio como "el colaborador 18". Además, la acusación alega que durante su término como gobernador Acevedo Vilá realizó gestiones o actos oficiales para beneficiar los intereses económicos del "colaborador 18" y no divulgar la relación financiara que lo vinculaba con ese colaborador. El quinto cargo de la acusación describe el segundo patrón de conducta delictiva y alega que los acusados conspiraron para hacer transacciones financieras con los fondos recibidos del "colaborador 18". Estas transacciones fueron diseñadas para ocultar y encubrir la naturaleza y el origen del dinero el cual fue producto del fraude alegado en los cargos. En la acusación, también se alega que la compañía de publicidad utilizada por Acevedo Vilá para la gobernación generó facturas falsas de aproximadamente $250,000 dirigidas a una de las corporaciones del "colaborador 18" por supuestos servicios rendidos a la corporación cuando en realidad la compañía de publicidad no había realizado trabajo alguno. De ser encontrados culpables de los cargos, del uno al cuatro, se exponen a 20 años de cárcel y una multa de $250,000. Por otro lado, de ser encontrados culpables del quinto cargo se exponen a una pena máxima de 20 años de cárcel y una multa del doble de la cantidad de la transacción ó $500,000, ó lo que sea mayor. Acevedo Vilá enfrenta otros 19 cargos criminales relacionados con el financiamiento de sus dos pasadas campañas eleccionarias. Mientras estuvo como comisionado residente desde el 1999 al 2000 y la de la gobernación desde el 2003 al 2004. Junto con el Mandatario fueron imputadas en ese entonces 12 personas allegadas a él que trabajaron en sus campañas. Entre todos, enfrentan 27 acusaciones, entre las que figuran conspiración para violar la Ley federal de Campañas Electorales, someter informes falsos a la Comisión Federal de Elecciones (CFE), transferencia electrónica fraudulenta de fondos, conspiración para defraudar al Servicio de Rentas Internas federal, rendir planillas fraudulentas y falsos testimonios al Buró Federal de Investigaciones.
